Roundup of Women-Focused Activities at LISA14

As a woman in tech, it’s sadly all too easy to feel alienated or excluded, like you’re completely out of place at meetups or conferences. Being the only (or almost only) woman isn’t easy, but at LISA14, you won’t be. Here’s the roundup of activities specifically for women at LISA, and some for allies as well.

USENIX Women in Advanced Computing (WiAC) BoF

Monday, 8–9 pm, Redwood Room AB

In the past year, there have been many incidents--and lots of talk--about the conference experience for women in technology. Let’s continue the conversation and discuss how WiAC can help. All registered attendees—of all genders—are welcome to attend this BoF.

Women’s Breakfast Meet and Greet

Wednesday, 7:30 am–11:00 am, Madrona Room

All women of LISA14 are invited to attend the inaugural Meet and Greet on Wednesday morning. This is a great opportunity to enjoy a continental breakfast and spend some time socializing and networking with the other women at the conference in a safe, informal environment.

WiAC: Open Community BoF

Wednesday, 9–10 pm, Grand Ballroom B

This will be an open discussion about women in advanced computing. All registered attendees—of all genders—are welcome to attend this BoF.

Lunchtime Topic Tables

Sunday-Friday

Want to chat about a specific topic at lunch? We’ll have tables set aside for those interested in culture, devops, education, monitoring and metrics, release engineering, security, systems engineering, and Women in Advanced Computing. While only women are invited to the WiAC table, everyone is invited to the rest of the topic tables.
